THE TELEGRAPH MAGAZINE SHOP AWARDS 2009

Origin8 WINS "Local Food and Drink" award.

The winning shops - from national department stores to Origin8 in Cambridge - were determined by the votes of thousands of Telegraph readers.

Mary Portas, Telegraph Magazine's shop reviewer, said: "What binds these winners together is the trust we have as consumers.  Trust is probably the most powerful thing we need in the world."

ORIGIN8 DELICAFES WIN £32,000 AWARD for showing that Local Food Matters

Origin8, the Cambridge delicafé that sources its food and drink from the six Anglian counties, has won the prestigious Ixion Challenge to find the business most likely to survive and thrive in the current financial climate. There was tough competition from across the region.

The £32,000 prize from non-profit business support organisation Ixion Holdings will help Origin8 to open a second branch, create a new kitchen to support its fast-growing catering division and provide extra training to staff.

Origin8's PINK ROSE PARTY

On Thursday 30 October 2008 we hosted a "Celebration of Fine Local Foods", in aid of the Cambridge Breast Cancer Research Unit at Addenbrooke's  Hospital. £150 was raised  through a raffle, the proceeds of which will go towards this worthy cause
